Essential oils can play a critical role within your home when it comes to your health. These small bottle of liquid can put you back in control if your healing journey, without having to depend solely on Western medicine.Β
I strongly believe in the power of essential oils. They have helped improve my skin, my menstrual cycle, my breathing, and my mental well being. Right now I’m cycling through about 20 bottles of single oils and blends for specific functions.Β
Right now, what’s needed more than ever are oils that can boost the immune system, help with respiratory function, and calm down the nervous system. In no way, do essential oils cure viruses or disease. They are a more holistic way of building up the body’s defense mechanism when it comes to exposure. Essential oils can be great preventative methods for common viruses, colds, and flus.Β

Below, I want to share my favorite essential oils for dealing with and helping to prevent the COVID-19 virus. Whether it be physical or mentally, I have found support in these little brown bottles.Β
Immune System
DΕTerra’s proprietary blend, OnGuard is the brand’s top selling essential oil. The product is a household staple during cold and flu season, warding off germs and sanitizing surfaces. This blend has a mix of:Β Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Leaf, and Rosemary Leaf/Flower essential oils. The orange gives an uplifting and energizing effect on the body, while also purifying the air. Not all essential oils can be taken orally. When taken daily, OnGuard can help to improve the immune system, as well as the cardiovascular and respiratory system. You can mix a few drops into water or in a veggie capsule. I primarily use it as a cleaning solution. I put a couple of drops in my hand soaps and in my multi-purpose cleaner (1:1, vinegar and water).Β
Oregano oil is another one of my favorites for immune support. This powerful plant helps to cleanse and purify, whether it be the air, your skin, or your internal functions. Oregano oil is high in antioxidants which helps with improving digestion, the respiratory system, and preventing illness. This oil is most affective when ingested through a veggies capsule or mixed with water. I make sure to start taking this immediately when I feel something coming on.
Frankincense is another classic oil that seems to do it all, especially when it comes to immunity. It has been known as the king of oils for centuries. Frankincense can quite literally change your body on a cellular level and can even increase white blood cells. It is also fantastic for improving the quality of skin. If you were to pick one essential oil to have in your home at all times it would be this one. Frankincense can be used internally, topically, or aromatically, I prefer it internally for immune function.Β
Respiratory System
When it comes to blends, DΕTerra’s got you covered. They have a solution for every preventable health concern through one of their propietary blends. One that I have found to be incredibly helpful has been Breathe. It is a mix ofΒ Laurel Leaf, Eucalyptus Leaf, Peppermint Plant, Melaleuca Leaf, Lemon Peel, Cardamom Seed, Ravintsara Leaf, and Ravensara Leaf essential oils. Breathe helps to clear airways, minimize seasonal threats and promote a peaceful sleep. I believe the best way to use this blend would be topically on the chest or aromatically.Β
Eucalyptus is one of OG’s in the topic of respiratory health. During cold and flu season, I always make sure to have this oil on hand. This popular plant helps to clear airways, cleanse and purify the skin & surfaces. The next time you’re in the shower, put a few drops in your hands to inhale or on the tub floor. Breathe it in.
I know what you’re thinking, this herb is for the kitchen. However, Rosemary can also have incredible benefits for your lung health. A few drops can be added to dishes for its pungent flavor, but the oil is also great aromatically for calming nervous tension and fatigue. It’s earthy and cooling scent helps to clear nasal pathways and breathe easier.
Anxiety & Stress
Our mental health is one of the most important factors when it comes to staying well. During difficult times, avoiding anxiety and stress is impossible, but essential oils can certainly help to minimize its’ affects on the body. This calming blend, Adaptiv, is perfect for this. The blend has a balance ofΒ Wild Orange, Lavender, Copaiba, Spearmint, Magnolia, Rosemary, Neroli, and Sweetgum oils. So far, we know that orange provides an uplifting affect, lavender provides a relaxing one, and rosemary soothes the nervous system. What a gorgeous blend to have in your essential oils toolbox for all occasions. Adaptiv can be used topically diluted with another carrier oil or aromatically, calming down an entire space.Β
Citrus scents always make me happy, yet I never knew why. Bergamot is an oil that benefits that mood while also calming the body. This product has been used for centuries to releive stress and to uplift feelings of sadness. Bergamot is also used in many massages due to its’ cleansing and purifying properties. It can be used aromatically, topically, and internally.
Copaiba is a very popular essential oil for anxiety. The enzymes in this plant are similiar to those of CBD oil. The cannabinoid receptors help to improve organ function within the body and reduce inflammation. Copaiba’s main function is to calm down the nervous system, which is why it’s so well sought after. My favorite way to use it is mixed with coconut oil and rubbed on my entire body, as well as taken internally.Β
During this time, it’s vital that we put a lot of focus on our health. Everyone is more susceptible to catching viruses, colds, & flus when we don’t take care of ourselves. This could mean getting more sleep, eating mostly plants, drinking water, getting outside in nature, and drinking water.
