Β Let’s be honest here, no one loves auditioning. Getting up in front of strangers, or people that have maybe seen you flub up before at previous auditions, to pour your heart out is terrifying. The fact that they will determine if you’ll work as a performer is even scarier. Wow. I’m making this sound kinda like a horror film. But seriously though, it takes lots of courage to audition, so feeling your best is vital for booking the job.
When we roll up to auditions without looking and feeling the best that we can, the liklihood of booking the gig you want is cut in half.
- Try singing your go-to belty 16 bar cut at 7am after waking up with a runny nose and sore throat.
- Think you can get through 6 hours of dancing and then sitting, then dancing, then sitting after a late night and not much sleep?
- What about when you forget your snacks, but there are about 30 people in front of you and you feel like you’re about to pass out? Think you’re gunna remember your lines now?
There are so many factors we have to think about when it comes to showing up strong in an audition. Not only do we have to be thinking about our material and how well we practiced it, but also wearing the best colors for our skin type, not eating too much before hand to make us puke in the dance combo, and making sure to not miss the train.Β

I believe that that the way to show up for our career is to show up for ourselves first. Our main job as performers is to market ourselves. If we are not confident in who we are or what qualities of ourselves to sell in this industry, we can begin to feel like a fraud. In this 5 Day Challenge, I will get you focused on what’s important before the audition even begins and beyond. Nutrition, movement, and mindset being the main topics in our journey towards audition prep.Β
Ready to rock your next audition and finally get that callback you’ve been praying for? Let’s do this! It’s time to start focusing on you and your health goals. This 5 Day Challenge can help you with that.Β

I am also featuring some other seasoned performers to help me with this challenge: Makayla McIntosh and Paige Mason. Makayla is a dancer with her own business Passion Pulse where she coaches performers on their Ballroom techniques. She also has performed some regional theater, such as Shrek the Musical and was also a swing for Disney Cruise Line, which is where we met. Paige is a singer who was just featured in productions such as the King and I and the Wizard of Oz International Tour. She has started coaching fellow performers on their personal development through her program called An Actor Develops. These ladies will reveal their top tips for maintaining health and having a successful audition in the 5 Day Challenge.
